Outreach and Care

Saron Lutheran/First Presbyterian of Hoquiam supports our neighbors through a variety of outreach ministries.

The Gospel Garden: The community garden ministry we do at the Rose Center. Last year we provided and grew over 450 pounds of produce that went to our local food bank

Cold Weather and Hygiene Items Ministry: We gather cold weather and hygiene items that we disburse throughout the community to our neighbors who are in need.

Grief Groups: This spring 2024 we are back running our widow/widower grief group workshop that goes for 10 weeks. Last fall we had “drop in” grief groups during the holiday season. For more information contact us to sign up for our weekly email or read our newsletter about upcoming opportunities.

Monthly Community Meals: This is back up and running! We had not had this event since February 2019 due to COVID. We always need volunteers to help with this. We typically have it the last Wednesday of the month. We serve between 50-65 people depending on the month. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up!

Harbor Food Pantry: This new outreach is run by community volunteers at the Rose Center every Wednesday at 10:30am. They hand out food boxes that are left over from the senior center in Ocean Shores. This is a new joint ministry with Saron- 1st. This is a new model we are developing to help neighbors while curbing food waste. The garage is being used to store some of the items. Since this new partnership began-and they have helped hand out 6,161 food boxes/bags in 2023! How great is that!

Aberdeen Founder’s Day Parade Pride Float: Some members were invited to help GH Pride to decorate their wonderful float for Founder’s Day. We wanted to participate, and show God’s love for all people. We helped organize and invited other churches in the area to also participate with us. It was a wonderful event with showing love and care of God for all people no matter who they are.  We were honored and delighted to participate along with other churches and community members.

The Rose Center:  “The Rose Center” is a multipurpose space for our ministries and to host local servant trips, and other local groups needing space. We are hear to be a welcoming and affirming place in Grays Harbor. We are also in the midst of developing the Rose Center use as a place for spiritual direction for individuals and more education and support groups. Some groups that meet there are the local ALANON, Girl Scouts, and more.

Quilters: Our quilters meet twice a month and are always looking for helpers.

Local groups we provide support to via donations and food: Union Gospel Mission, Chaplains on the Harbor, Family Promise, Hoquiam Food and Clothing Bank, Food Ball, Mutual Aid, Harbor Food Pantry, the United Way/CCAP Benevolence Fund and more.

Care and Community Team: This team is launching to help support those who are homebound, potential members, and create a space of hospitality.

Come and join us in caring and loving our neighbors.
